Boys High School Coaches Devise New Divisions
and Playoff System for Spring 2009

Reported by Terry Justice

In a coaches meeting held in late October, the Kentucky Lacrosse Association high school boys coaches voted to devise a new division and play-off system effective in the Spring 2009 season.

The rationale for the system was related to increasing complexity of the former state championship playoff system, restrictions on schedules based on regulation season opponent play requirements, and a desire to encourage teams to develop their programs individually and with the best needs of their teams in mind. Lax Power ratings and ages of programs were factors in consideration.
